The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), a participating State of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Agency (CDEMA), and Sub-Regional Focal Point for the North-Western Caribbean has assumed coordination responsibility for the Islands of the Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Joaquin’s passage.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is advising that Tropical Storm Erika, though not a direct threat to Jamaica, could impact the island producing intermittent rainfall. Information from the National Meteorological Center indicates a projection for weekend rains with the possibility of Flash Flooding.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), is advising that Hurricane Danny has weakened significantly and is now a Trough.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), in collaboration with the Meteorological Service of Jamaica is maintaining a state of vigilance, while reviewing the country’s readiness as Hurricane Danny strengthens and moves closer to the Caribbean.
