Evacuation of Pedro River in St. Ann
Posted On: Oct 01, 2010The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is reporting that the gauge at PEDRO RIVER is currently at 19 feet and rising (Maximum level 22 feet). The community is currently flooded and as such the ODPEM and the Parish Council with the support of the JDF are in the process of deploying boats to evacuate some 60 persons. A shelter at the Concord Catholic Church is ready to receive evacuees.
TheBog Walk Gorge remains closed. Motorists are being urged to use the Barry and Sligoville alternate routes.
