Help Haiti- Flight to Leave Haiti
Posted On: Jan 15, 2010Following the advisory sent to inform Jamaicans of the Government’s attempts to evacuate Jamaicans out of Haiti, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is asking persons who have relatives and friends in Haiti to advise them that there will be a flight out of Haiti to transport them home
leaving Saturday, January 16, 2010.
The aircraft will leave Jamaica at 4:45 a.m. and land in Haiti at approximately 5:45 a.m. Persons in Haiti should be advised to go to the airport in Port-au-Prince and make contact with representatives of the Jamaica Defense Force. Two Jamaican immigration personnel will be on-site to process Jamaican nationals
beforehand.
Information gathered suggests that approximately 60 Jamaican nationals in the French-Caribbean country that was hit by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12 would like to return home.
